Amazing scientists

Julia Finley Mosca

Growing up during the Civil Rights Movement, Patricia Bath refuses to let racism, poverty, and sexism dim her ambition to become a doctor. Her journey leads to groundbreaking work in ophthalmology, where her vision for better care helps transform how blindness is treated. Blending an illustrated, rhyming story with a fuller biography, timelines, and engaging facts, this book highlights themes of perseverance, innovation, and the power of seeing beyond barriers. Written in an accessible, inspiring style, it introduces young readers to a scientist whose determination reshaped lives—then invites them to explore the real-world impact behind her achievements.
