As The Light Dies

David Saylor

In a fractured future shaped by the collapse of the old order, Texas rises as the center of a bold new republic—and a battleground for competing visions of freedom, power, and survival. As leaders and citizens struggle to build a nation from the ruins, political ambition, regional identity, and human resilience collide. Set in the larger *As the Light Dies* world, this story explores the costs of rebuilding society when the past has become both a warning and a weapon. David Saylor combines speculative world-building with grounded political and social conflict in a tense vision of a nation remade.
