[Children's House] -- [1]

Yrsa Sigurðardóttir

In 1987, three siblings are torn apart and sent to different homes—setting in motion a mystery that refuses to stay buried. Years later, psychologist Freyja and police officer Huldar are drawn into a case that blends careful investigation with unsettling echoes of the past, as family secrets surface one by one. With its measured procedural momentum and creeping suspense, this Nordic thriller explores how trauma travels through generations and how identity can be shaped—or distorted—by what we inherit. Yrsa Sigurdardottir’s signature style—grounded in crime craft yet edged with a horror-tinged imagination—makes this a gripping, emotionally charged read that keeps the truth just out of reach.
