An ethical Chiang Mai Detective Agency novel

David J. Casarett

At a respected hospital in Chiang Mai, nurse ethicist Ladarat Patalung is drawn into an investigation when a woman’s husband dies in the emergency room—and troubling evidence suggests she may have been widowed before. As rumors spread of a serial killer targeting middle-aged men, Ladarat must balance her ethical responsibilities with an unexpected talent for detective work. Her inquiry unfolds amid hospital politics, a looming royal inspection, and a series of puzzling characters, including an enigmatic barefoot man in intensive care. Set against the vibrant culture of Thailand, this thoughtful and gently suspenseful mystery explores justice, compassion, professional duty, and the surprising courage required to act.
