Elmore Leonard

Chili Palmer has traded Hollywood for the music business, where he discovers that record executives, ambitious performers, and gangsters all play by their own rules. When a Russian criminal turns up dead in Chili’s home, his attempt to launch a promising young singer draws him into a dangerous tangle involving mob figures, rival promoters, and music-industry schemers. With razor-sharp dialogue, sly humor, and a colorful cast of hustlers and underworld operators, the novel explores ambition, reinvention, celebrity, and the blurred line between entertainment and crime. It is a brisk, stylish crime caper that showcases Elmore Leonard’s signature ear for authentic voices and coolly comic suspense.
