House of the Scorpion

Nancy Farmer

In a chillingly plausible future, Matt is a clone, a being reviled and feared by society. Yet, he is unique, created as a duplicate of the powerful and ancient drug lord, El Patrón. Raised in isolation, Matt navigates a dangerous world where his existence is both a privilege and a curse, caught between the opulent but sinister life of his creator and the harsh realities of those deemed less than human. As he uncovers the secrets of his own identity and the empire he is destined to inherit, Matt must confront the moral complexities of his existence and decide where his loyalties truly lie.
