Inspector Caldas

Domingo Villar

A young saxophone player is found dead in Vigo under circumstances that initially suggest a brutal sex crime, drawing Police Inspector Leo Caldas into a case that refuses to stay simple. As Caldas—rising in public profile through his radio work—partners with the sharp, skeptical Rafael Estévez, the investigation moves through the city’s coastal shadows and the intimate secrets behind its music, relationships, and reputations. With each discovery, the story deepens into a tense exploration of obsession, moral ambiguity, and the ways communities protect their own. Domingo Villar’s crisp, atmospheric style blends classic detective momentum with a distinctly Galician sense of place, making this a compelling mystery about truth, performance, and the cost of looking too closely.
