Marisol-McDonald

Monica Brown

Marisol McDonald is a biracial, brown-skinned, red-haired pirate-princess who refuses to fit neatly into anyone’s expectations. When she’s told to match the “right” way to be, she sets out to prove that her own style—equal parts soccer, swagger, and imagination—is something to celebrate, not hide. Along the way, Marisol navigates friendship, identity, and the pressure to conform, discovering that confidence can be its own kind of magic. With Monica Brown’s warm, accessible storytelling and spirited humor, this uplifting middle-grade tale champions individuality, belonging, and the power of being true to yourself.
