Orbitor (Blinding)

Mircea Cărtărescu

Mircea Cărtărescu's monumental work, *Blinding*, reimagines Bucharest as a phantasmagoric landscape where personal history and the sweep of Romanian revolution intertwine. This ambitious novel, the first in a trilogy, explores the duality of existence through potent motifs like the butterfly, symbolizing the potential for reconciliation between life's opposites. Cărtărescu masterfully blends surrealism with a profound meditation on time, memory, and the human condition, charting a narrator's life from the mid-20th century to the fall of communism.
