Ozark Trilogy

Pamela Morsi

In the isolated Ozark community of Marrying Stone in 1906, widowed farmer Althea Winsloe is given just three weeks to choose a new husband—whether she wants one or not. Determined to protect her farm and young son, she hires Jesse “Simple Jess” Best to help with the demanding work of preparing for winter, expecting little more than honest labor in return for her late husband’s hunting dogs. But Jesse’s kindness, patience, and steadfast character challenge the community’s assumptions about his intellectual disability, while Althea finds herself drawn to a man she has always viewed as childlike. A tender historical romance about autonomy, prejudice, family, and the power of seeing a person for who he truly is.
