Pegasus

Robin McKinley

On the eve of her twelfth birthday, Princess Sylviianel—known as Sylvi—is preparing for the ancient ceremony that will bind her to her own pegasus, a sacred bond shared by the royal family. Raised amid lessons in magic, diplomacy, and the fragile treaty between humans and pegasi, Sylvi is eager to embrace the destiny expected of her, yet soon discovers that the two peoples understand one another far less than anyone realizes. As she and her pegasus companion navigate the boundaries of language, tradition, and trust, Sylvi is drawn into a mystery that could reshape their divided world. Richly imagined and emotionally resonant, this fantasy explores friendship, cultural misunderstanding, and the courage required to challenge inherited beliefs.
