Pliocene Exile

Julian May

In a far-future Earth, an ancient gateway offers troubled humans the chance to escape into the Pliocene—six million years in the past, where they expect a simpler life beyond civilization’s reach. Instead, the exiles find themselves among the enigmatic Tanu and Firvulag, powerful beings whose rivalries, psychic abilities, and hidden agendas draw the newcomers into a dangerous struggle. As the travelers confront unfamiliar cultures and their own ambitions, questions of power, identity, freedom, and human evolution come sharply into focus. Blending imaginative science fiction, mythic fantasy, and richly detailed world-building, the novel launches an expansive saga of exile and discovery.
