In a future where humans and robots exist in a fragile state of coexistence, Europol detective Gesicht investigates a chilling series of murders targeting the world’s most advanced robots—and possibly the humans connected to them. As the evidence points to an unprecedented robotic killer, Gesicht is drawn into a case that threatens to reignite old divisions and places the surviving members of an elite group in grave danger. Blending the structure of a gripping murder mystery with science fiction, the story explores identity, free will, memory, love, and the uncertain boundary between human and machine. This thought-provoking reimagining of a classic Astro Boy story is rendered with Naoki Urasawa’s atmospheric suspense and psychological depth.
