The Program

Suzanne Young

In a world gripped by a suicide epidemic, the government has implemented The Program—a controversial treatment that erases painful memories to save lives. For seventeen-year-old Sloane, the prospect of undergoing this procedure represents an unbearable loss, as it would strip away her most precious memories of her dead brother and boyfriend. Faced with the impossible choice between her own survival and preserving the people she loves most, Sloane must navigate a dangerous system designed to control her mind and emotions. Suzanne Young's haunting debut explores the price of healing, the power of memory, and what it truly means to be human when the things that hurt us most are also what make us who we are. This gripping psychological thriller raises profound questions about grief, identity, and whether a life without pain is worth living.
