The Rats of NIMH

Robert C. O'Brien

Mrs. Frisby, a timid mouse widow, faces a heartbreaking dilemma: her youngest son, Timothy, is gravely ill, and moving his bed will surely kill him. With time running out, she must seek help from the most unlikely of allies – the highly intelligent rats of NIMH, who live beneath the old rosebush. These extraordinary rodents, survivors of a secret government experiment, possess knowledge and technology far beyond that of ordinary animals, and their leader, Nicodemus, may hold the key to saving Timothy's life. As Mrs. Frisby navigates the dangerous world of humans and the complex society of the rats, she uncovers secrets that challenge her understanding of courage, community, and the true meaning of home.
