Sleepless

Nancy Kress

In a future where genetic modification is commonplace, humanity faces a profound division between the genetically enhanced 'Sleepless' and the unmodified 'beggars.' This novel explores the societal and ethical ramifications of creating a new human species, one that requires no sleep and possesses superior intellect and physical capabilities. As the Sleepless rise to prominence, the world grapples with the widening chasm between the haves and have-nots, questioning the very definition of humanity and the future of our species. Nancy Kress masterfully weaves a narrative that delves into themes of inequality, evolution, and the complex consequences of playing God.
