Verba Mundi

Göran Tunström

Spanning the decades from the 1930s onward, this novel opens with a devastating accident that leaves a wife and mother dead and a family shattered. In the aftermath, the survivors flee their home and relocate, believing that distance might offer renewal—only to discover that grief, guilt, and unresolved love travel with them. As the story unfolds, the book traces how memory and silence shape relationships, turning everyday life into a kind of ongoing reckoning. With a lyrical, psychologically astute style, it explores themes of loss, inheritance of pain, and the fragile hope of starting over—especially when the past refuses to stay behind.
