Weston Woods read-along CD

Adam Rex

On the first day at Frederick Douglass Elementary, the school itself feels the jitters—worried about how the children will arrive, what they’ll do once the doors open, and whether they’ll treat this new place with kindness. As the day unfolds, small moments of uncertainty give way to curiosity, connection, and the reassuring realization that everyone—students and school alike—has to learn how to be brave in a brand-new beginning. With humor and heart, this story explores belonging, nerves, and the quiet courage of starting over. Adam Rex’s distinctive, playful storytelling brings warmth to a universal experience, making it a perfect read for anyone facing a new classroom, a new routine, or a first big step.
