NISIOISIN

A brilliant but aimless dropout from an elite Houston program for gifted teenagers accepts an invitation to a secluded private island, where its eccentric mistress has gathered a circle of young female prodigies. When one of the guests is found decapitated, the island becomes a locked-room puzzle and everyone a potential suspect. Blending classic whodunit conventions with playful, unconventional storytelling, the novel explores genius, isolation, identity, and the seductive challenge of solving an impossible crime. It marks NISIOISIN’s striking debut and showcases the inventive voice that made him one of Japan’s most distinctive contemporary mystery writers.
