Barbara Neely

Barbara Neely wrote murder mysteries built around Blanche White, a middle-aged mother and domestic worker who becomes an amateur detective, beginning with Blanche on the Lam (1992). She also wrote short stories and was an activist, and the series continued with Blanche Among the Talented Tenth and Blanche Cleans Up. In 2020 the Mystery Writers of America named her its Grand Master.
