Bill Buford

Bill Buford is an American author and journalist, best known for Among the Thugs, his account of time spent with England's football fans, and Heat, an account of working as a kitchen slave, line cook and pasta-maker in Tuscany. He edited Granta for sixteen years after relaunching it in 1979, and earlier served as fiction editor of The New Yorker, where he is still on staff. His other books include Dirt, a mix of memoir, travel writing and essays, and he is the one who coined the term 'dirty realism.'
