Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, is a Buddhist monk and the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people, and he is the most influential figure in the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in 1935, the Dalai Lama writes under the name Dalai Lama XIV.
