Dale Carnegie was an American writer and teacher of courses in self-improvement, salesmanship, and public speaking, born into poverty on a farm in Missouri. He is best known for How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936), which rests on the idea that changing how one treats others can change how they behave. He also wrote How to Stop Worrying and Start Living (1948) and Lincoln the Unknown (1932).
