Denton Welch

Maurice Denton Welch (1915 to 1948) was a British writer and painter, admired for vivid prose and precise description. His two novels, In Youth Is Pleasure and Maiden Voyage, are both coming-of-age stories, and the first follows a fifteen-year-old boy through a summer at a country hotel. Welch's prose is the thread that runs through both books.
