Friedrich Dürrenmatt

Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1921–1990) was a Swiss author and dramatist who was a proponent of epic theatre, and his plays drew on the experience of World War II. His books include philosophical crime novels such as The Pledge and Suspicion, the second Inspector Bärlach mystery, along with the satire Traps. He was a member of the Gruppe Olten, a group of left-wing Swiss writers who met regularly at a restaurant in Olten.
