Description

When Alfredo Traps, a traveling salesman, finds his car disabled in a remote Italian village, he accepts an invitation for dinner from a retired judge. What begins as a simple act of hospitality soon unravels into a sinister game of psychological manipulation and existential dread. Trapped in the judge's opulent home, Alfredo is drawn into a surreal trial where his life becomes the subject of a perverse intellectual exercise. Dürrenmatt masterfully explores themes of guilt, justice, and the absurdity of human existence in this darkly comedic and thought-provoking novella.
