Graham Greene (1904–1991) was an English novelist and journalist known for serious Catholic novels and for thrillers he called "entertainments." His best-known books include Brighton Rock and The Power and the Glory, which won the 1941 Hawthornden Prize, and he worked with filmmaker Carol Reed on The Third Man. Across 67 years of writing, he took up the moral and political conflicts of the modern world and wrote more than twenty-five novels before his death in 1991.
