Henry Patterson, who died in 2022, wrote under the pen name Jack Higgins, and it is that name on the spines of his books. Higgins was a British author of thrillers and espionage novels, best known for The Eagle Has Landed (1975), a wartime story that sold more than 50 million copies and became a 1976 film. His other titles include A Prayer for the Dying, Thunder Point and Day of Reckoning, and Night of the Fox is a Second World War spy story set on occupied Jersey on the eve of D-Day.
