Go, Tell Michelle: African American Women Write to the New First Lady
Description
This moving collection brings together letters and poems from African American and African women addressed to Michelle Obama at the beginning of her historic role as First Lady. Contributors from varied generations and backgrounds share hopes for their families and communities, offer advice and encouragement, and reflect on the significance of seeing a Black woman represented in the White House. Their personal voices explore heritage, sisterhood, resilience, aspiration, and the enduring impact of the women who came before them. Together, these writings form a powerful portrait of a pivotal moment in American history and a collective vision for the future.
