Description

When lawmen Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch ride into Appaloosa, they find a frontier town held hostage by a powerful rancher whose violence has corrupted its government and terrified its citizens. Hired to restore order, the two friends face shifting loyalties, dangerous gunmen, and the difficult question of how justice can survive in a place where power answers only to itself. Blending spare prose, sharp dialogue, and sudden bursts of violence, the novel explores friendship, honor, revenge, and the uneasy boundaries between law and personal morality. It is a taut Western of richly drawn characters and uncompromising frontier action.
