Description
A young Karl Ove arrives in Bergen with high hopes of becoming a writer, only to find the Writing Academy—and his own expectations—deeply disappointing. As he navigates rejection, awkward friendships, and the turbulence of an intense love affair, he confronts the private battles that shape his days: introversion, shame, and the pull of alcohol. Blending sharp self-scrutiny with vivid everyday detail, this installment of the acclaimed My Struggle cycle turns personal failure into a searching portrait of ambition and self-understanding. With Knausgård’s famously intimate, confessional style, the novel explores how desire, vulnerability, and resilience collide when the life you imagine refuses to match the life you’re living.
