Funeral in Blue

Description

In 1862 London, two women are found murdered in the studio of a celebrated artist, and suspicion swiftly falls on Dr. Kristian Beck, a respected surgeon whose wife is among the dead. With Beck arrested and facing ruin, Lady Callandra Daviot hires the enigmatic William Monk to uncover the truth, while Hester Monk and defense attorney Oliver Rathbone become drawn into the dangerous investigation. As Monk follows a trail from London’s medical and artistic circles to the secrets of a troubled past, the case exposes tensions surrounding class, marriage, identity, prejudice, and the emerging understanding of the connection between physical and psychological illness. Rich in period detail and driven by Anne Perry’s measured, atmospheric suspense, the mystery builds toward a revelation hidden behind the portrait of a vanished world.
