Description

Commander Adam Dalgliesh retreats to a remote windmill on the Norfolk coast, hoping to find solitude after the publication of his latest poetry collection. Instead, he encounters a murder that draws him into the troubled community of Larksoken, where private ambitions, buried resentments, and dangerous secrets lie beneath the surface. As a killer preys on young women nearby, Dalgliesh must navigate a tense web of suspicion while confronting the fallibility and hidden desires of those around him. Atmospheric and psychologically astute, the novel combines a compelling police investigation with a penetrating portrait of an isolated coastal society.
