Description
A young Berkeley graduate, Ransom Altman, leaves the safety of ordinary life behind after meeting Lindy and falling under the spell of his literary heroes. Determined to pursue a world of “inexhaustible desire,” he ventures into an unforgiving wilderness where imagination turns increasingly dangerous, and he begins to script his transformation into a first-person manuscript of animal myth and song. As a pack of wolves—strangely familiar in spirit if not in fact—closes in, Ransom’s quest becomes a reckoning with obsession, fear, and the thin line between transcendence and self-destruction. With Rich Shapero’s debut’s lyrical, mythic intensity, *Wild Animus* explores primordial longing, the seductions of idealism, and what it costs to chase bliss beyond reason.
