Description

Dr. Kay Scarpetta finds herself in a precarious position, physically and psychologically scarred, and forced to leave her home as an investigation unfolds. Seeking refuge with an old friend, she discovers that her sanctuary is compromised when her friend is subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury investigating Scarpetta herself for murder. Realizing she is being framed and can trust no one, Scarpetta must navigate a treacherous landscape where the lines between victim and perpetrator blur, and a killer's past crimes become increasingly uncertain. As she delves deeper into the forensic evidence, Scarpetta uncovers a meticulously crafted web spun over years, designed with the sole purpose of her downfall, forcing her to confront the chilling question of who is behind this elaborate plot and why they are so determined to destroy her.
