Description
On his seventy-fifth birthday, John Perry makes a life-altering decision: he enlists in the Colonial Defense Force. Humanity has reached the stars, but the universe is a dangerous place, teeming with alien races eager to claim habitable planets. The CDF offers a chance at a new life, a homestead on a distant world, in exchange for two years of brutal combat on the front lines. Perry soon discovers that the war is far more complex and perilous than he ever imagined, and the transformation he undergoes is more profound than he could have foreseen.
