Description
In this satirical novel, a young man named Teodorico Raposo is sent from his provincial home to the devout, yet hypocritical, Catholic circles of Lisbon. Torn between his aunt's rigid piety and his own burgeoning desires for the material world and sensuality, Teodorico navigates a complex spiritual and earthly landscape. His aunt's quest for a holy relic leads him on an extraordinary journey to the Holy Land, culminating in a profound dream of Christ's Passion. Upon his return with a supposed sacred artifact, Teodorico finds that earthly deceptions and familial vindictiveness await, challenging the very nature of faith and salvation.
