Description

In 1914, a young Korean "picture bride" named Regret embarks on a journey to Hawai'i, seeking a brighter future and the education she was promised. Upon arrival, she finds herself married to a poor laborer, her dreams deferred in a land of both opportunity and prejudice. Renaming herself Jin, she navigates the challenges of a new culture and the harsh realities of life in Honolulu, forging a new identity and a path to prosperity. Alongside three fellow picture brides, Jin witnesses and contributes to the transformation of Honolulu into a vibrant, multicultural metropolis, even as they face the darker aspects of paradise and a crime that will forever mark the islands' history.
