Description
A Lisbon psychiatrist, recently returned from the Angolan War and struggling through the aftermath of a fractured marriage, moves through a single day haunted by memory, loneliness, and disillusionment. As he encounters patients, acquaintances, and the city itself, ordinary moments become passages into the wounds of private and collective history. With dense, lyrical prose and shifting streams of consciousness, the novel explores trauma, alienation, love, and the difficulty of reclaiming a meaningful life. This powerful debut established its author as a major voice in contemporary Portuguese literature.
