When a dying Green Rider—one of the king's legendary messengers—collapses before her on a forest road, young Karigan G'ladheon is thrust into a world far beyond her ordinary life. Bound by a sacred oath to deliver his cryptic "life and death" message to King Zachary, she assumes the golden-winged brooch that marks her as a Green Rider and embarks on a perilous journey through a realm of complex magic and hidden dangers. Haunted by the specter of the fallen messenger and hunted by dark forces determined to stop her, Karigan must navigate treacherous obstacles and uncover the truth behind the mysterious warning: "Beware the shadow man." Kristen Britain's debut novel launches an epic fantasy series with unforgettable characters, intricate magic systems, and a compelling protagonist whose courage will be tested at every turn. This action-packed adventure combines high stakes, feminist sensibilities, and masterful storytelling that will captivate readers from the first page.
