Description
Silvia Federici's seminal work, *Caliban and the Witch*, offers a radical reinterpretation of the transition from feudalism to capitalism, centering the subjugation of women and the body as a crucial, often overlooked, element of primitive accumulation. The book traces a panoramic history from the peasant revolts of the late Middle Ages through the brutal European witch-hunts and the colonization of the Americas. Federici reveals the systemic violence employed to transform pre-capitalist societies into the disciplined, exploitable workforce required by nascent capitalism. This essential text, a cornerstone for contemporary feminists and Marxists, uncovers the deep historical roots of exploitation and the enduring struggle for liberation.
