man I am so glad im done with that
sigh. there were moments when this book was really good, like 5/5 territory. the brutally boring first 20%, ever-shifting pov where i get inner thoughts of 2 different characters sentences apart, and the lack luster combat writing made it tough. i also just did not give a fuck every time i was forced to read hawat's or a harkonnen's pov. then finally i get to read about paul's training and courting chani and i was SO excited i've waited so long for this!!!! .... only for it to be unmentioned—glossed over in a 3 year+ time skip. jesus fucking christ man. when this book is good, it's SO GOOD and when it's bad i wish i never learned how to read.
