A series of disturbing incidents—including ritualistic acts of violence and a murdered woman found beside a marked Bible—raises fears that a far more sinister plan is unfolding. As Inspector Wallander investigates, his daughter Linda begins pursuing the case on her own, eager to prove herself before joining the police. Her search leads her toward a secretive religious sect driven by apocalyptic conviction and a determination to punish a sinful world. Set against the tense, atmospheric landscape of Sweden, this gripping crime novel explores fanaticism, family loyalty, and the dangerous consequences of taking justice into one’s own hands.
