Description

Boston private investigator Spenser is drawn into the troubled Double Deuce housing project when his friend Hawk asks him to protect residents terrorized by a ruthless local gang. After a drive-by shooting claims the lives of a teenage mother and her child, Spenser confronts a community caught between fear, violence, and the struggle for control of its streets. As he investigates, he must navigate shifting loyalties, entrenched corruption, and the difficult question of what justice can accomplish when institutions have failed. With Parker’s trademark sharp dialogue, brisk pacing, and morally grounded hero, this installment blends hard-boiled action with a probing look at urban poverty and community resilience.
