Description

After returning to duty from rehab, Paradise police chief Jesse Stone faces a volatile investigation when a series of disturbing, apparently racially motivated crimes culminates in the murder of an African American woman. When Alisha, the department’s first Black female officer, is targeted by an elaborate frame-up, Stone and his team must uncover whether the attacks are isolated acts of hatred or part of a larger scheme threatening the entire police force. Alongside the case, Stone takes a troubled young man under his wing, only to discover that the newcomer’s secrets may have profound consequences. Combining hard-boiled suspense with nuanced explorations of racism, recovery, loyalty, and justice, this fast-paced entry carries forward the spirit of the Jesse Stone series while adding its own emotional depth.
